Andy Armanino, Sr.
As anyone who knows him can attest, Andy Sr., or "Papa" as he is affectionately referred to by friends and family, has had a lifetime of experience appreciating fine wine and food! Born and raised on a family farm, one of Papa's greatest joys has always been working outdoors with his hands in the soil. Over 40 years ago when he was first starting out in business, some of Andy's initial clients included Napa Valley wineries. In those early years, he was more than happy to collect wine in exchange for his accounting services and reaped the benefits for years to come. In addition to being the patriarch of Armanino Family Cellars, Papa provides an invaluable source of business knowledge, fine taste buds and an unparalleled sense for how to do things "the right way".
Perhaps it was his early indoctrination to working in the yard by his grandfather or just a natural predisposition to playing in the dirt, but ever since he was a child Andy has been fascinated with agriculture and growing things. Even today when he is not donning business attire, Andy can often be found working up a sweat tending to his garden. Along with his love of great wine and the outdoors, Andy brings a strong business background to Armanino Family Cellars (he is also the managing partner of Armanino McKenna, the largest California based full service accounting firm). One of Andy's talents lies in seizing an idea that he is excited about and turning it into reality. At Armanino Family Cellars, he contributes his business acumen and entrepreneurial spirit to help run all facets of our business operations – and has helped make the dream of a family winery a reality.
As the youngest child of a mom who was a gourmet chef, restaurateur and world traveler, Matt caught the bug for cooking, traveling and fine food and wine at an early age. For nearly two decades, Matt has been passionate about everything related to wine. His fascination has extended to viticulture, vineyard management, winery operations and, most of all, the art of small lot winemaking. After 15 years as a successful business executive and entrepreneur, Matt started Matthew Daniel Cellars, a highly-acclaimed boutique winery four years ago. This venture, which later became part of Armanino Family Cellars, gave Matt the opportunity to gain invaluable first hand winemaking experience working closely with head winemaker Jean Hoefliger and other consultant winemakers, such as pinot noir expert Scott Shapley (Roessler Cellars and Siduri Wines). In 2007, Matt fulfilled a lifelong dream of teaming with his brother and father to form a family business and take his winemaking passion to a new level. Today, Matt works closely with Jean and our winery team in the endless pursuit of making the perfect wine.
